92 004 and Test Car 6 lurk in the sheds away from public gaze. Although not really visible, Test Car 6 (no 975290) is noteworthy in being the sole surviving coach from the first production order of Mk 2 coaches. It is believed to be now part of the Serco fleet. 1024x692 92 004.jpg 2009-02-20 20:08:24 Buy Print |
Depot pilot 501 had an interesting history. It was formerly ADB 999385, part of a M&EE De-icing and Sandite unit (936501). Following this, the unit was used at Strawberry Hill R&D as the depot shunter, and like the MLVs, was repainted by the staff. It was affectionally known at the 'Beastie'. Sadly this unit was scrapped on site in August 1997. Thanks to Clive for the info. 1024x1515 501.jpg 2009-02-20 20:10:57 Buy Print |

207 013 and 465 177 are close neighbours in the shot. Space within the R&D section of the depot was always at a premium. 1024x652 465 177 .jpg 2009-02-20 20:20:55 Buy Print |
